Their knowledge of the area is thorough; their eyes reflect Hudson Bay Mountain, the passion for fresh snow is paramount as you can feel the excitement when they speak, making the mountain a large part of their life has shaped their character into something special………a Legendary Local.

Voted for by fellow pass holders during the Legendary Locals Pass Sale the Legendary Local is a unique figure on Hudson Bay Mountain who has been involved with the mountain in one way or another over an extended period of time. The Legendary Local has gained the respect from HBMA staff and other pass holders through their integrity and personal character. The Legendary Local is a representation the past, present and future of the ski community on Hudson Bay Mountain.

Anyone who ski’s or snowboards on Hudson Bay Mountain is considered to be a local within the close knit mountain community. The Legendary Locals Pass Sale allows anyone (not just Smithers residents) to be eligible to purchase a pass or to be voted for by pass purchasers.

2008/09 Legendary Local Winner!

If you have been on the slopes of Hudson Bay Mountain within the last 35 years you will know, seen, heard or been spotted by our 2008/09 Legendary Local………OTTO KOLDYK. Otto, voted for by pass purchasers during the First Annual Legendary Locals Pass Sale has been a pass holder on Hudson Bay Mountain since 1971 and is still smiling.
